As we all know, the current global economy is in the toilet. Profits are down everywhere and businesses around the world are looking to identify new revenue streams to sustain themselves.
So, is this Starbucks in Wayne, Pennsylvania, now selling beer? Boy, that would be outstanding! Think about it:
Go for your morning coffee, have a latte or two, check your email, maybe write a work document or two and then just wait for midday so you can have a pint and check your afternoon emails – all without leaving the coffee shop. God bless America.
You know that might not be a such a bad idea. While waiting at Dublin Airport the otherday for my connecting flight I saw at least five people having a pint or two, and it was not even 10 in the morning. Who says beer is just for the afternoon?
@ Bridget –
I am all about morning beers. Mind you, not every day, but on special occasions, especially if the beer is a thick and hearty stout, like Guinness. I like to think of Guinness as ‘breakfast in a bottle’.
Props to Starbucks for experimenting with new ways to get folks in the door. Nice picture.
Beer = tasty
I prefer “garden” to “yard.”
@ Steve – What is the mathematical symbol for ‘can equal’? On my recent trip to America, I saw TV ads for lots of Miller Lite-esque drinks that I would hardly qualify as tasty.
@ Meg – Garden is certainly more genteel, but maybe it is just a ‘beer yard’. They drink hard and fast there, missy. It’s guys and dolls who drink to get drunk. No prancing about – get drinking and get drunk at the Starbucks beer yard.
Good point L Dizzle.
I would have to say that lots of Miller Lite-esque drinks would hardly qualify as beer… more like dirty water…
@ Steve –
Dude, you are so hip! I so don’t know how to use the dizzle-izzle-sizzle verbiage. Thanks for calling me L Dizzle, ’cause now I feel cool.
Good beers in America:
1) Sam Adams Boston Lager (plus many of their seasonal brews). I was saddened to see, however, that they are now offering a Sam Adams Light.
2) Goose Island Octoberfest Ale, along with other brews from that company.
Please feel free to add more beers to the list. What are you drinking these days?
I usually stick with the basics but I’ve found Yuengling, Sierra Nevada, Dogfish Head, and Leinenkugel to be quite good at times.
Cheers.
@ Steve,
I am with you on the Leinenkugel and the Sierra Nevada. Have you tried Sierra Nevada’s Bigfoot Ale?
Thanks for the tip on the Yuengling and the Dogfish Head. I must check those out on my next trip stateside.
Damn right! Guinness is a meal indeed.
Beer of Champions maybe?
@ Che –
Thanks for visiting! Great to have your input here. I think you may be onto something. If Wheaties is the Breakfast of Champions, then Guinness certainly could be the Lunch of Champions.
Question: Guinness or Guinness Extra Cold?
