It seems as if there has to be a better word to evoke a feeling of floral fragrance in the spring air than “Burpee”.
After seeing this display at my local grocer, I began to wonder:
- Who came up with the name?
- Where did it come from?
- Was it the company’s original name or was this at some point a rebranding attempt?
- When the name was invented, was burpee also the name of an exercise?
It’s a brand name I think better suited for a beer company.
Nerd fact of the day: today in 1858 a Mr. Washington Burpee was born who founded the world’s largest mail order sees catalog.
