What Would It Be Like to Have a “Soundtrack” to Your Life?

Life is a movie, starring you, and all the key moments are accentuated by just the right tune at just the right volume at just the right time. Like a movie, life becomes more fun, exhilarating, terrifying and dramatic. iPods (all MP3 players really) have made this dreamworld a reality of sorts, only you’re the only one who hears the music. So you’re the star of the movie, but you’re also the only one watching it. Maybe that’s a good thing though, because most of the songs on your soundtrack are (or were) hit pop songs which have no particular special meaning to the time and the place when you listen to them. The songs are playing because you like the way they sound, but they don’t define the scene, they weren’t composed to unlock the emotions of the experiences, in fact, you’re lucky if the scene and tune are even the same genre. Still, I’m all for it. Even walking down the street is more fun when you’ve got the music rolling. And when I see those people jamming out and walking so rhythmically that I can practically hear the song, I smile, because they know how great it would be to have a real soundtrack to your life.

My soundtrack would definitely include some Spanish guitar music by Ottmar Liebert.
