I saw this notice when I had parked my car at a view point on the side of an active volcano crater. Apparently parking your car facing towards the exit and away from the volcano increases your chance of survival should the volcano suddenly erupt! I’m not convinced.

What was the thought process behind the implementation of that sign? Do you think it was a ‘every second might count’ sort of idea … or more of a ‘Man! That guy who parked head-first was just obliterated by the volcano. Better get a sign in place!’ reaction?
…not to mention that it’s not what i would consider highly visible as you drive in…i therefore think it’s just a suggestion…i.e., if you wanna be able to outrun a lava flow, you might consider this..
