If only the estimable Charles Darwin were alive today, I should very much like to ask him for his thoughts on this painting. Is it, in his considered opinion, an evolutionary development bound for failure (How could a horse-monkey-cupcake ever survive in the wild?) or purely the wistful fantasy of a deranged artist?

I’d like to think that the monkey of chickenmonkeydog doesn’t look like the one in the painting!
